Days #1: free fall
As my cousin said "head fall will refresh your brain and restart your system"
I had no idea of the pain till I experienced 2 things. The first-aid doctor stitching my wounds without anaesthesia and Dr asking me to repeat the incidents 4 times to confirm that I have not lost my memory.
Shift to ICU; quick on wheel chair; 2 idlis to eat; IV on stand; friends waiting out; lot of metrics, and a green gown to wear.

Ich will (I Want)
I want to learn, now that I have time and the will
those which were submerged, now i shall reveal
I want to learn saxophone, not to master its tune
but to see myself playing and savor the fortune
Potraits is something I also want to learn
drawing people, animals, landscapes, tree and fern
I know only one swimming form free-style
now i want to give others at least a single trail
Why can't i be early to bed and early to rise
is one thing still unanswered beyond my futile tries
I hanker to see myself finish a marathon
and run many more every year from then on...
I plan to imbibe a lot this year
wagering on my itch, urge and fear
those which were submerged, now i shall reveal
I want to learn saxophone, not to master its tune
but to see myself playing and savor the fortune

RE-Resolutions 2014
I will lose weight
I will be more organised
I will quit drinking
I will work more on charity this year
I will save more
I will... I will.... i will....
Time for resolutions.. again. I think i just carry forward my resolutions to next year.
2012 repeat resolutions of 2011.
2013 repeat.
2014 repeat?
Still I just love the hope new year gives me, yet it also makes me postpone all my december goals making me lazy keeps me just accumulating goals and to-do's for the new year. Gyms getting flooded with people, decline in sales of Wills and Jhonny Walkers, people leaving on time; mark the kickoff of a year and not to forget the happy-new-year hand-shakes u get in office.
HBR says the resolutions will last only 1~2 months and business will pick up as usual. McD and PHD will have their stocks up again and this circle will continue;studying Business is knowing mob well.
Nevertheless this year resolutions FOR ME will not follow the same old format of forgetting and moving on, for 2 reasons
1>coz I am divulging the fact that i will keep my resolutions
2>coz I really trying to stick to plans

FDI, Retail and Reckoning
This article concentrating on impact and illusion of FDI on the retail chain and people was written long before FDI got unleashed.
Before I take on the FDI intervention in the retail sector, let me go through small myths and misconceptions that my friends ask me most of the time.
Myth 1: Walmart spent $23 billion for access to overseas market, so its a corrupt company
Myth buster: Lobbying and bribery are completely 2 different aspects, one involves arranging for the documentation and tedious work one need not go through when settled through various channels where as the later involves breaking the law to facilitate one's benefit. Often lobbying seen as disguised bribery is quite different than the other. For example paying the broker to get your papers move smoothly in the office so that you need to be present only at the time of driving test without you being hassled is lobbying and you bribing the officer not to take your test is all together a different concept.
Myth 2: I shall have Big stores and malls in my neighborhood
buster: No company is foolish enough to open its mega mart in every nook and corner like we have our various kirana shops in our neighborhood. One big infrastructure shall eradicate the kirana shops for 1km around, meaning you need to walk at least 0.5 km to reach the nearest mall, terror of parking vehicles strikes back when u have one.
Myth 3: Walmart shall sellA1 quality goods at cheaper rates
buster: Really, u need a buster for it? if yes, start believing Kalmadi is clean and IIPM is the best MBA college in India
Myth 4: Ankur supports BJP a lot
buster: I neither support each one of them, coz both had the same idea when in power. I just like to scrutinize the decisions taken by the Govt that make no logic to me.
There is an American quote, "DO NOT FIX ANYTHING IF IT AIN'T BROKEN". Is our retail market so damaged that we need FDI badly? Has this smooth chain in India really collapsed that we need to fight over it and get it done in full force.
My 6 points should give you an idea of why I have a strong stand against the FDI in retail
[1] NO DRAWBACK IN THE INDIAN RETAIL CHAIN
The present retail system has its roots deep in India with its habituated and no-problem facing customers due to the present system.
[2]NO COLLAPSE IN ECONOMY FROM RETAILER'S END
raw materials-->company-->manufacturer-->dealer-->whole sale-->retail-->customer
this is a universally followed series in the retail sector and this has not been changed because of it high efficiency in management and constructed work forced labor resulting gains.
[3]NO COMPLAINTS FROM CUSTOMERS
My experience tells me that rarely there is a customer who has a problem with the product or with the shop keeper, say 1 in every 10.
[4]NO GREAT ADVANCED RETAIL NETWORK CHAIN IN THE US
The retail network has same layout and format as practiced now in India, they DO NOT follow a special or very advanced technique that differs theirs from ours.
[5]LOCAL CHAIN SUFFERS
As soon as a mega store touches down, it sweeps down the shops 1km in radius, displacing all its working group creating the ever chasing employment crisis again. This BIG store which springs up promising jobs for the people from that place and employs a bantam crowd. End result being all shop keepers who lost their business having failed at self employment.
[6]MONOPOLY IN MARKET
The only reason even India has 3 different Govt-run petroleum refining-to-retail/selling companies is to avoid monopoly. If we start having these giants which find a place in this sector that is not at all the need of this hour, soon replacing all the small competitors shall create a mega chance for monopoly which being company's prime motive.
I shall wrap this up with reminding FDI in retail has only enabled these mega players to enter India, remembering that it being a capitalist driven company shall not serve us any free lunches. And the way I see it, there is a very less probability of a win-win situation here with these players having a bigger cut out of the deal.

The "CON"CEPT of PRODUCTIVITY
My brawl with the whole CON-cept of productivity started after being labelled "unproductive" coz of sticking to my phone after finishing my work.
I figured out that that productivity in general is directly proportional to the outside perception of one's efforts
I figured out that that productivity in general is directly proportional to the outside perception of one's efforts
mathematically, productivity α outside perception of efforts
If you work restless to complete a task in given 12 hrs work period and i complete it in 10 hrs and spend the rest 2 hrs surfing the net, would I become less productive keeping the constraint that both works have the same quality of work.
So now if you look busy, you are busy and it only directs to slow the pace to "be productive".
Given this misconception is what everyone wants to believe, look busy and pretend to work and u are considered productive.

Why another Android??
my mom> "Why a new android? when u have an old one that still calls, reads and delivers sms."
me> the new one has jelly bean, old one had eclair
mom> wat chocolate eclairs r u talking about, do not change the topic
me> huh? leave it. anyway I still like my "chocolate" eclair
My mom asks me why do i need to buy new one when my old one works just fine, which according to her should just call, read and sent messages pretty well. Is this just frustration for she sees me like a child wanting to taste different colored candies even though all of them taste the same or has the technological gap has reached another level in my family?
Alarm->mail check->read news->listen to music->prepare a day's schedule->voice search integrated with google->search anything, everything->charge->recharge->chat-> check status on fb->check tweets->read blogs->download stuff->play scrabble and chess with buddies sitting next or strangers else where->open sources->read ebooks->apps-> work on presentations->race some cars->use GPS to locate restaurants and destinations -> call->message-> fianlly endless personalizing my android.
Now my phone has become an inseparable part of me, but still why does my mom want me to use "alarm clock+newspaper+media player+chess and scrabble board+pen, paper+computer with net+a simple phone"

Ban the hate action, not the hate speech
Recent bodo-muslim "wanna be" riot just had me back on my blog
A country's integrity which cannot be just held ransom by any sort of rumor for is not we want even after the post retirement age of India. When can we finally dream of and see a more mature India. In my opinion this tragic retreat of of the north-eastern minority group raises the questions on the failure of govt & security services in the country. Govt calls it world wild web or a digital pandora's box but it does fail to understand its responsibilities towards these internal security level issues.
Why is the regular pass-the-blame still being played and tolerated. Home ministry blames the telecom networks and social media and bans 310+ of them. But does it have to be reminded that that riots are not taken place in the social media sites, they are done on roads, and there is no point in banning as many of these if it fails to control the following action.
"Ban the hate action, not the hate speech"
A source is blocked, more emerge. Is there no other sensible option left with the authorities to stop any wrong doings and block the action. My question is why take action on the net/media/telecom services rather than the criminal individual. Is it difficult to create another source when one gets blocked?
Why is that media always gets to play the blame-it-on-him member of the society. Riots, terrorist attacks, bandhs, exam paper leaks, vital information leak etc, blame it on media. One or the other communication gets hit badly. The govt goes to the extremes in response to such cases. It either keeps quiet or goes harsh on the media.Limiting download speeds, number of SMSs and restricting data flow did only add inconvenience and complications. Many impersonation, fake and parody accounts are not taken care of till some potentially explosive contented source is detected after the heavy mobility in the nation. Was the antipole not expected in here.
Coming back to media, the telecom suffers as messaging services get held back. Social media sites suffer as they get banned for a period. Servers go down. Country faces a new lot of problems now.
This whole sequence has given a message in under current to the whole system that people neither trust the secularism of system nor the police and security services. A failure in system is followed when motion of minority cannot be provided safety where ever they settle in this over sensitive country.
Be there a real riot or an intimidating factor for one
